Terms and Conditions

Pug reading contract for in-home dog grooming service.jpg

Before the groom: Please ensure your dog has been given an opportunity to relieve itself before their groom. I would ask that you also advise me if your dog has any existing or current medical conditions they are receiving treatment for.

Anal glands: Please note that I do not offer an anal gland emptying service. Under the Veterinary Act 1966, only veterinary surgeons are allowed to diagnose conditions and undertake this treatment.

Matted coats: If your dog is severely matted, it may be necessary to completely clip off the coat in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 where de-matting of a severely matted coat will cause pain and suffering to your dog. I will discuss this with you beforehand and obtain your written consent. Clipping off the coat may cause after effects which may include itchiness, skin redness or irritations and sores caused by excessive rubbing by your dog. I shall not be held liable for

any after effects this procedure may cause and any problems uncovered on a matted and neglected coat. There may be an additional charge added to the groom price to cover any extra time incurred and wear and tear on equipment.

Fleas and Parasites: I would ask that your dog is flea and parasite free before visiting the salon. If you have used a flea spot on treatment on your dog, please allow at least 48 hours before having them groomed. If I find that your dog has fleas during the groom, I will treat accordingly but there will be an additional charge of £10 to cover the use of flea shampoo and the extra clean up time and fumigation of the salon.

Grooming of older dogs: The grooming process can be a tiring experience for elderly dogs or those with medical conditions such as arthritis. I will make every effort to make your dog as comfortable as possible and only grooming that your dog can cope with will be carried out.

Discovery of conditions or problems: I shall not be liable for any conditions or problems which are uncovered during the grooming process. If I find anything, I will inform you.

Vet care needed during/after groom: If an accident happens during the groom, I will apply the appropriate first aid care to your dog and, if necessary, will advise you to seek veterinary care. If you need to seek veterinary care after the groom, please notify me as soon as possible (and no later than 48 hours after seeking care). Reimbursement for this care will be at my discretion and only if it is clearly shown in writing from your vet that I am liable.

Terminating a groom: I reserve the right to terminate a groom for the health and safety of either your dog or myself. If your dog attempts to bite me, I will firstly use a comfy collar to complete the groom but will terminate it if your dog's behaviour persists or gets worse. Please inform me if your dog has ever bitten anybody or has aggressive tendencies. You understand and agree that you will be held liable for any injury or damage to property caused by your dog.

Cancellations: As I am a small business, every cancellation or no-show has a big impact on my business. If you cancel your appointment within 48 hours you will be subject to a 50% charge of the groom fee. If you cancel within 24 hours, or do not turn up to your appointment, you will be subject to 100% charge of the groom fee. Thank you for your understanding.

Complaints: If you are not happy with the groom for any reason, please contact me as soon as possible after your appointment (and no later than 48 hours) so this can be discussed and rectified.
